GSK Upgrade Emailer

Sometimes the strongest visuals are the simplest ones. For this emailer, the goal was to communicate curiosity, progress, and human relevance—without overwhelming the viewer. Although my primary role on the team was copywriting, I stepped in to create the artwork when support was needed. I handled the visual concept and layout, working closely with the team to ensure the design aligned with the message and the platform.

The design centered on a question mark formed through upward arrows, overlaid with images of patients—symbolizing assessment, movement, and the human stories behind progress.

The approach was intentionally clean and restrained:

  • A minimal composition to suit the email format
  • Strong visual hierarchy for immediate comprehension
  • Subtle use of imagery to add warmth without clutter

By keeping the artwork simple, the message remained clear, direct, and easy to engage with in a fast-scrolling environment.

CLARITY IS A DESIGN CHOICE

This project reinforced that effective art direction isn’t always about adding more—it’s about knowing when to hold back. Especially in email communication, clarity and restraint can make a visual more powerful, memorable, and respectful of the viewer’s attention.
